The Grand Junction Police Department is investigating an incident in which two separate explosive devices detonated at the Salvation Army building near 4th St. and Kennedy Ave.

Just before 8pm tonight, people began calling 911 to report hearing loud boom in the area of Sherwood Park.  Officers began looking in the area, but did not immediately find where the sound came from.  Then, just after 8:30pm, a second explosion was heard in the area, and a nearby officer spotted a flash and smoke at the Salvation Army building.  Fire fighters and officers responded to that building, and found that someone had placed two separate devices near two downspouts on the building.  The explosions caused minor damage to the downspouts, pulling them away from the building.  No one was injured.

Members of the Grand Junction Bomb Squad were also on scene, and collected evidence.  Investigators are working to determine what kind of explosives these were.  A search of the area did not find any other devices.

We do not have any suspect information at this time. We ask anyone with information about this incident to call 970-242-6707.
