Update at 7:45 p.m. on August 25, 2014
After the shots were fired, other responding officers removed the man from the car and took him to a safe position behind a police vehicle to bring in paramedics so they could assess the man’s condition. Additional responding officers continued covering the house until they could determine there was no additional threat from the home.
The 21st Judicial District Critical Incident Response Team is actively investigating what occurred. Until investigators complete interviews, the autopsy is conducted, and the gun found in the car is analyzed, we are not able to provide additional details at this time.
Grand Ave. between 17th and 18th streets has reopened to traffic.
