Latest Update to Monday’s Critical Incident on Grand Ave. #GVCopBeat

The Grand Junction Police Department is now able to release the names of the two officers involved in yesterday’s shooting on Grand Ave.

The officers are Cpl. Clint Newton and Ofc. Patric Bridge.  Cpl. Newton has been with the GJPD since 2003.  He had more than six years of prior law enforcement experience before joining the GJPD.  Ofc. Bridge joined the GJPD earlier this year.  He came to us with more than two years of prior law enforcement experience.

The Mesa County Coroner’s Office has also completed its examination of the deceased.  Below is the news release from the coroner’s office:

For Immediate Release

The Mesa County Coroner’s Office has completed its examination regarding the death of Joshua Matthew Crawford, a 29 year-old male resident of Grand Junction, CO. Mr. Crawford was the gentleman involved in the officer involved shooting yesterday August 25, 2014 on the 1700 block of Grand Ave. The cause of death is gunshot wounds of the chest. Due to the sensitivity of this ongoing investigation our office will not be providing any further information at this time.

The law enforcement agency overseeing this investigation is the Critical Incident Response Team. Please contact them for any further details regarding this case.
