On 12/22/14 at about 1536 hours, the Grand Junction Police Department responded to the area of Riverside Park regarding a reported stabbing. The caller advised the adult male victim had just been stabbed in the abdomen by another adult male.
Upon arrival GJPD officers found a conscious and talking male victim seated in the north alley of W. Colorado Ave. The male was observed bleeding from his abdomen. EMS arrived quickly. The male was treated on scene by paramedics and transported to ST. Mary’s Hospital. The victim’s injuries involved a substantial risk of death.
Witnesses directed officers to a small camper in the same alley where the stabbing reportedly took place. The suspect in this case, Arnold Louis Medina (DOB 08/03/53) was contacted by officers in the camper. Witness statements indicated the men were shoving each other when the victim was stabbed one time. The consumption of alcoholic beverages is a factor being investigated in this incident.
GJPD Detectives obtained a search warrant for the small camper for the collection of evidence. Arnold Louis Medina was arrested and charged with Second Degree Assault (class 4 Felony) and was transported to the Mesa County Jail.
Current condition of the involved victim at ST. Mary’s Hospital is listed as “Good”.
