Did You Hit the Lock Button? GJPD Reminding Car Owners to Lock Up After String of Break-ins #GVCopBeat

Posted on Updated on

IMG_0667We took several reports this week from car owners in the Redlands who said someone broke into their cars and stole items. In one of the cases the victim reported her car was stolen.  Luckily the thieves left it parked down the street from the victim’s home.

What do they all have in common?  All of the vehicles were unlocked at the time of the break-ins.

The vast majority of car break-ins in our area and the vast majority of car thefts in our area involve vehicles that were not locked. A good number of those cars also had the keys in them, making it very easy for the thieves to get in, take items, or even take the car itself.

Remember to ALWAYS lock your car.
