The incident began just after 8:30 p.m. when a victim reported people in a white Jeep SUV pointed a gun at him while he was driving on Patterson Rd. A Mesa County Sheriff’s Office deputy spotted the suspect vehicle near 28 1/4 Rd and Orchard Ave and began pursuing it south to North Ave, where it collided with another vehicle and then continued on. Once the suspects drove into a residential area, the deputy ended the pursuit.
At approximately 8:45 p.m. another MCSO deputy spotted the suspect vehicle heading west on Elm Ave. and he began following them. The suspects crossed 12th St. and continued onto a pedestrian area on the CMU campus. The driver eventually crashed into a fire hydrant on the football practice field near Cannell Ave. and the four people inside jumped out and began running.
Deputies called for a lockdown of the campus while they chased the suspects. Two of them have not been caught at this time. The lockdown was lifted at 9:15 p.m. They are described as men, 5’8″ tall with brown hair, and last seen wearing black clothing.
