The Grand Junction Police Department arrested 45-year-old Lonnie Richard Causey on first degree assault charges with a deadly weapon with intent to cause serious bodily injury.  The arrest stems from a stabbing late Monday night in a mobile home park in the 1500 block of Highway 50.  The victim was hospitalized with multiple stab wounds and sustained serious bodily injury.

Witnesses told officers Causey and the victim had gotten into a verbal argument before Causey punched the victim.  The victim punched back.  Causey then grabbed a knife and stabbed the victim three times.  Causey later told officers he was in fear for his life and that is why he grabbed the knife.

Officers took Causey into custody without incident and booked him into the Mesa County Jail.  The victim was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital for treatment.
