The Grand Junction Police Department has obtained an arrest warrant for 28-year-old Teyonna Lashay Allen for charges of 3rd degree assault, child abuse, and domestic violence.
On Tuesday, April 7, 2015, Allen’s husband, Shawn Quintana, said he was walking out of the Mesa County Health Department carrying their infant son in a car seat. Quintana said a black SUV pulled up and his wife and three of her family members jumped out and surrounded him. Quintana said Allen grabbed the car seat but he refused to let go. Quintana said that’s when his wife sprayed him in the face with pepper spray. Allen was then able to take the child and all four jumped back into the SUV and left at a high rate of speed.
When officers responded they found Quintana attempting to wash out his eyes. They also detected the smell of pepper spray on him.
Quintana provided officers with a court ordered protection order that had been issued the day before but that had not yet been served to Allen. It protects Quintana and his son from Allen and places the son in Quintana’s custody.
Officers have been trying to locate Allen but have not been able to find her. If you have any information on Allen’s whereabouts please call 911 to provide the information.
