Recently, the Grand Junction Police Department identified a pattern of a burglaries in downtown areas of the City, where homes were being entered when the residents were away, and women’s undergarments and accessories were stolen. Last night, the Grand Junction Police Department arrested a suspect in these crimes.
During increased patrol of the areas where the crimes have been reported, officers and detectives with the Grand Junction Police Department arrested a male for stealing a purse out of a vehicle in the area. Additional investigation, as well as a search subsequent to his arrest, revealed a bag of women’s clothing in his possession, to include women’s underwear. Upon inspection of the items by one of the victims of the burglaries, she was able to identify articles of her clothing in possession of the male.
Jerry Madrid, 49, of Grand Junction, is charged with Theft from Auto, 1st Degree Criminal Trespass of Auto, and Criminal Mischief. Additionally, Madrid is charged with Parole Violation. Madrid has multiple arrests with the Grand Junction Police Department, dating back to 1999, for charges including Burglary, Theft, Trespass, and Indecent Exposure (urinating in public.) Additional charges from these more recent burglaries are pending.
