Update to Reported Shooting Incident #GVCopBeat

UPDATE 07/2/16 8:57pm: An arrest has been made in the reported shooting at the St Mary’s parking garage from early this morning.

Adam Burke, 23, voluntarily contacted officers with the Grand Junction Police Department regarding this morning’s incident. After being interviewed by detectives, Burke was arrested and transported to the Mesa County Jail on charges of Assault in the Second Degree and Felony Menacing.
It has further been determined that the male victim originally reported to have been shot in the face was, in fact, not shot, but rather his injuries were sustained by being struck in the face by Burke. A shot was fired in the parking garage as reported by witnesses; however, the only injury sustained from the shot was a female who was struck in the ankle by some shrapnel. Her injuries were minor.
This investigation remains active and ongoing.

07/2/16 7:00am: Multiple incidents that occurred overnight are being investigated by the Grand Junction Police Department.
At approximately 2:00am, officers with the GJPD were dispatched to the alley south of Main Street, between 6th St and 7th St. Multiple reporting parties stated a male had been “run over” by a passenger car that then left the scene. Upon investigation, officers were able to identify and contact the female driver of the vehicle, who was cooperative. The extent of injuries to the male victim is unknown, but not expected to be life-threatening. There have been no arrests, and the incident is under investigation at this time.
Approximately one hour later, just before 3:00am, a call came in regarding a victim with a gunshot wound to the face in the St. Mary’s Hospital parking garage. Officers arrived and contacted multiple people on scene. Again, the extent of injuries to the adult male victim is unknown, but not anticipated to be fatal. No arrests have been made in association with the shooting, and no one is in custody at this time. Follow up on potential leads is being developed, and more information will be released as it becomes available.
Officers and detectives with the Grand Junction Police Department are interviewing numerous individuals that were on scene of both incidents. Anyone with information about either of these incidents is encouraged to contact the Grand Junction Police Department at (970)242-6707, or if you wish to remain anonymous, you can call Crime Stoppers at (970)241-STOP, to be eligible for a cash reward.
