Early this morning, officers with the Grand Junction Police Department were dispatched to a home in the downtown area on a report of an unknown male in the residence.
The homeowner reported that a male had just broken into her home. Officers arrived on scene within minutes and detained an adult male who was seated on the floor near the front door, and was later identified as Randy White, 27. White showed numerous indicators of intoxication, and claimed that this was his grandmother’s house. White was not known to the victim.
The victim reported that she was asleep in her bed when she was awoken by someone shaking her shoulders and saying, “Mom, wake up.” The victim was able to lead the man downstairs with her, where she called 911. The victim stated that the window in her backdoor had been removed, which is where White is believed to have gained entry into her home.
White was arrested and transported to the Mesa County Jail, on charges of 1st Degree Criminal Trespass of a Dwelling (F5) and Criminal Mischief (M2).
We want to commend this homeowner for her quick thinking and composure in what must have been a frightening situation.
