IMG_0390Officers with the Grand Junction Police Department were dispatched to a home in the 1400 Block of Rood Avenue at approximately 9:00pm on Tuesday night on a report of a possible burglary in progress.  Residents reported that when they returned home, they found that there was forced entry into their home, and there was blood on the floor.

Officers arrived within minutes and entered the home.  Officers called out for anyone in the home to announce their presence and received no response.  Officers could hear noises coming from the basement of the home and found a male with a knife at the bottom of the stairs leading to the basement.  The male threatened officers and was given numerous verbal commands to drop the knife and show his hands, but he failed to comply.  The officers utilized de-escalation techniques with a Taser and the male was taken into custody.  He was transported to the hospital for treatment of self-inflicted injuries.  The extent of the injuries is unknown at this time.  The investigation is open and ongoing.
