On Tuesday evening, officers with the Grand Junction Police Department responded to a report of a fight in the 2300 Block of Logos drive. Dispatch received information that a male had entered the building with a knife taped to his arm, and had subsequently left the area in a red truck. Officers were able to locate the truck driving in the area, and conducted a traffic stop. The driver and sole occupant of the truck was identified as Hilario Maez, 38, of Parachute.
Investigation revealed that Maez allegedly drove through a bay door at the business where the incident took place, causing several thousand dollars in damage. It was reported that Maez threatened the victims with a “sickle” that was taped to his arm. A weapon matching that description was recovered in Maez’s truck.
Maez was arrested and remanded to the Mesa County Jail on numerous charges, including Criminal Attempt to Commit First Degree Murder (F2), Felony Menacing (F5), Criminal Mischief (F5), and DUI.
