Car Accident Results in Serious Injuries to 14 Year Old Male #GVCopBeat

IMG_0390Shortly after 10:00am, emergency personnel were dispatched to the intersection of 30 Road and D 1/2 Road on a report of a traffic accident involving a 14 year old male pedestrian.  Initial investigation indicates that a truck driven by an adult male was headed southbound on 30 Road and was preparing to turn left to head eastbound onto D 1/2 Road.  The pedestrian was in the crosswalk on the east side of the intersection and was knocked to the ground by the truck.  The pedestrian was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.  At this time, the investigation into the circumstances of the collision is ongoing, and no arrests have been made.

Tomorrow afternoon, the intersection of 30 Road and D 1/2 Road will be temporarily closed, so investigators can conduct further investigation and accident reconstruction.  Further information regarding the exact timing of the closure will be shared on the Grand Junction Police Department Facebook and Twitter pages tomorrow.
