On Monday night, at approximately 8:00pm, personnel with the Grand Junction Police Department and the Grand Junction Fire Department were dispatched to a motorcycle versus vehicle crash near the intersection of 29 1/4 Road and D Road. Witnesses stated that the motorcycle driver, an adult male who was not wearing a helmet, appeared to have serious injuries. Upon arrival, medical personnel with the GJFD transported the male to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The identification of the deceased will be addressed by the Mesa County Coroner after appropriate notifications have been made.
The factors involved in the crash are still being actively investigated. Early indicators, which are subject to change as the investigation continues, suggest that the passenger car, driven by an adult female who was uninjured in the crash, was traveling eastbound on D Road and was beginning a southbound turn onto 29 1/4 Road when the motorcycle approached on her right, striking the passenger side of her car. No arrests or citations have been issued.
