Just before 6:00pm this evening, officers with the Grand Junction Police Department were dispatched to the area of S. 14th Street and Ute Avenue on a report of a vehicle versus motorcycle crash. The adult male motorcycle driver, who was wearing a helmet, was reported to have serious injuries. He was transported to the hospital by medical personnel, but ultimately died from injuries sustained in the crash. The adult female driver of the SUV was not injured.

Initial investigation, which is subject to change as additional details unfold, indicates that the SUV was crossing Ute Avenue southbound when the motorcycle, which was traveling westbound on Ute Avenue, collided with the rear driver’s side of the SUV. The investigation into the circumstances of the crash is very active and ongoing. No arrests or citations have been issued.

Officers are now clear of the accident scene and traffic is open in all directions.

Hi. I was walking past the radio station facing away when this accident occurred behind me. It still haunts me. I’m guessing the woman was not at fault. It would be hard enough to live through that even knowing that the motorcycle was speeding (which I’m assuming it was). The last report I read identified no one and had no estimates of speed or other details. I guess one could say, “What does it matter to you?” I guess I’m just trying to comprehend as best I can what is so mysterious to all of us, death.

I would appreciate any additional info you may have by now.
